the only fat I eat these days are from a few eggs a day and the little bit of butter I put on the frying pan, beside that I eat mostly carbs and protein without fat.

Recently I’ve been getting joint pain everywhere and my spin feels like it’s going to snap off. my neck spin area hurts.

I’ve also been getting extremely cold hands, feet and tip of the nose.

Is this due to my very low fat diet?

Could be. Joint pain is definately a possiblity in low fat diets as there is often less lubrication around your joints/tendons. The consensus is usually to use a joint health supplement containing glucosamine and condroitin. This article will detail a psoriatic arthritis diet approach to management of the condition. After being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis I remember being given a 2 page handout about the medication the doctors wanted me to take to manage my condition. I remember the opening line of the handout saying something along the lines of ‘we are not really sure of the mechanism behind how this drug helps psoriatic arthritis, but it does’. Then I remember looking at the list of potential side effects from the medication, it was nearly worse than the psoriatic arthritis itself. For goodness sakes, it recommended that I needed to have regular blood test to check my liver wasn’t forming tumors.

I knew taking medicine was not an option. I figured my actions and lifestyle had resulted in my current state and that I could reverse that and get myself out of it. The father of modern medicine, Hippocrates once said ‘let food be thy medicine’. I definitely acknowledge other factors in psoriatic arthritis, and these are addressed in other articles, but this article will deal with a psoriatic arthritis diet approach. Psoriatic arthritis is classified as an auto-immune disease; the body is hypersensitive and is destroying its own tissue. The cure cannot be to pump it full of toxic drugs and medications.

A basic way to start on a good psoriatic arthritis diet is simply consuming more live foods. This is just eating more fresh food. Food that has not come in a jar, packet, box, carton or packaged on the shelf. Just eat more fruit and vegetables. Things that have a long used by date, forget about them. An easy starting point is to start having salads with your meals. If the thought of that seems difficult, just add salad to your current meals, you don’t have to take away anything. Even if you are eating junk at the moment, just eat it with a salad, simply wrap it in the salad. This will get some good nutrient dense food into your system and help you get the taste of real food. Over time you will crave fresh live food and junk food will be seen as the bland nutritionally empty food that it really is.

Go to any nutritionist, naturopath or herbalist who treats a wide range of diseases and disorders and you will notice one of their stock standard solutions for whatever walks in their door is the elimination of wheat and diary. This is especially the case with auto-immune diseases and certainly should be for a psoriatic arthritis diet. There are many theories behind why, ranging from the effect these molecules have on our gut lining to the fact that these are probably the most heavily farmed, commercialized and processed food groups now a days. Whatever the reason, these seem to definitely cause a pro-inflammatory response in the body. You may initially think this doesn’t leave you with a lot to eat. Finding good clean protein is a really important part of a psoriatic arthritis diet. Things like chicken, beef and fish are going to be your main protein sources, so they need to be healthy and clean. What exactly does that mean? It means as natural as possible. For your beef, that means grass fed and not grain fed, and no hormones or antibiotics. When beef is grass fed it will have a good balance of essential fats, which is vital for health. Chickens and their eggs should be free of anti-biotics and hormones and if possible also grass fed. Fish should not be farmed. When you get back to eating clean sources of protein and animal fats, it can make a tremendous difference to the body. Protein is the building blocks of the body, and fat is an important part of every cell in the body.

This article is just a brief introduction into some starting concepts about a psoriatic arthritis diet. A cure for the disease is a strong word, but I feel it is a better solution than masking your symptoms with medication. The body has an innate wanting to be healthy, there may have been some roadblocks that got in the way, if you remove the roadblocks it will want to restore itself back to a health optimal state. Diet and nutrition may only be a small piece of the puzzle for some. My mother is suffering from psoriatic arthritis she often sees her medical health practitioner for that. I was going through her medical file and I got a chance to read about psoriatic arthritis. After reading all this I decided to find natural ways that can help my mother to reduce the pain and discomfort of psoriatic arthritis. In my opinion it’s the best option to cure the disease with the help of diet and lifestyle changes rather than using medications. I gathered some useful information about arthritis diet and lifestyle changes that can help such a sufferer of psoriatic arthritis. Here I want to share all that I gathered.

Here are some quick tips and diet ideas to cure psoriatic arthritis symptoms.Eat fresh fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. For instance, you can eat fresh food salad, fresh fruit juices etc.Exclude processed food from your diet. For instance, all those items that comes in cans, jars, packets, cartons and boxes.Stop going fast food restaurants too often. Some people can’t live without burgers and pizzas which can be really harmful for arthritis of any type and other such diseases.Eliminate dairy products and wheat from your diet if you want to eliminate psoriatic arthritis from your life.

Also include good proteins in your diet for e.g. beef, chicken and fish. Consumption of good protein can help in reducing symptoms of psoriatic arthritis. It is also considered as the building block of a human body. When you take good protein you will make difference in your health. Remember that taking good proteins is not enough but make sure that it is clean and anti-biotic free too. In other words, it should be fresh and completely natural. By natural we actually mean that the fish must not be farmed fish and chicken fed on grass not on grains.

Beside diet changes we need to bring some other changes in our lifestyle. For instance, we must keep ourselves away from stress and start taking things positively. We must include walk and exercise in our routine in order to keep ourselves fit. Say ‘goodbye’ to smoking, caffeine, alcohol and soda.

It is not so easy to start a new diet plan like arthritis diet instantly as sometimes we are so much used to of taking certain kind of foods. That we can’t avoid and sometimes we don’t want to avoid it. The example of such food includes soda, process food, spicy food, dairy products, wheat etc. these are not good for our health. The good thing is that there are some recipes available for arthritis sufferers to make it easy to change the diet plan.

Take fruits and vegetables in the form of salads

The diet of an arthritis patient should be planned to produce alkalinity in the blood. It should include fruits and vegetables in the form of salads, and, at least, two cooked vegetables. In severe cases, it would be advisable to put the patient in the therapy of raw vegetable juice three times a day for about a week. Repeated juice fasts are recommended at intervals of every two months.

Other treatments of arthritis

Keep your body warm, joints does not sell
The body must be kept hot. The joints should not be bandaged tightly as this limits movement and interferes with the free flow of blood.
Take rest, should have plenty of indirect ventilation

There should be plenty of indirect ventilation in the bedroom. Rest is advised when there is acute inflammation in the joints.

Bathing in the sea

If the dip in the sea is not possible, the patient should relax for thirty minutes every night in a hot tub, where a cup of salt has been mixed. Salt minerals, especially iodine, are absorbed through the pores of the skin. This will help correct internal imbalances
Arthritis treatment using Garlic

Garlic is another effective remedy for arthritis. Contains an anti-inflammatory properties to consider its efficacy in the treatment of this disease. Garlic can be taken raw or cooked according to individual preference.

Arthritis treatment using Bananas

Bananas, being a rich source of vitamin B6, have proved useful in the treatment of arthritis. A diet of only bananas for three or four days is advised in treating this condition. The patient may eat eight or nine bananas daily during this period and nothing else.

A tea made from the herb alfalfa, especially from its seeds, has shown beneficial results in the treatment of arthritis. One teaspoon of alfalfa seeds can be added to a cup of water. Three to four cups of this tea should be taken daily by the patient for at least two weeks.
