I’ve had Ankylosing spondylitis, a hereditary type of arthritis, my entire life. I’ve never let it keep me doing sports I wanted to do. I played football and wrestled in high school, I played soccer when I was younger (I didn’t care for it), I’ve done Jujutsu as well. Bowling isn’t exactly a physically demanding activity, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

I can do to improve my joints?
I’ve been having joint problems since Feb. and I was diagnosed in April.
I just need some things to do to keep me up and moving and not sitting around all day.
I have a gym and stuff so I am open to doing anything except sit on my butt watching tv.

Low impact cardiovascular exercises like walking, swimming, yoga, and tai chi are very good for your health, while being easier on the joints.

You can combine those with flexibility training and weight training.

You may want to consult with a trainer at your gym too. It may only take one session to learn some really good exercises for your arthritis.

Take care!

Why did i get arthritis on my good strong leg just from bending my knees ?

Jun 22, 2012   //   by   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Question by trobop: Why did i get arthritis on my good strong leg just from bending my knees ?
I’m 26 male. on january i was video taping and in order to lower a bit, i bend my knees a bit and stayed in that position for like 10 seconds.. when i came back up i knew something had torn or something. very very unfair, cause it was such a simple thing i did. Plus that leg is my strongest, the other leg is slightly smaller and weaker but the injured one has strong muscles. So i’m thinking it was the imbablance of leg length and imbablance in muscle strength that somehow caused this. Ok, Now i’ts June, had this on January and although it’s better i have bone pain sometimes alot that i cant’ even walk. I know it’s probably mor elike bone related( that is why im calling it arthritis), i’m not sure what it is though. I’ve heard of osteoarthritis happening to athletes even when young..so is it this? and man, i have to live the rest of my life without being able to walk well? I went to doc, but he was an ignorant doc that just wanted money. anyways, what can i do for this?

Arthritis runs in family trees. In other words, inheritance has a lot to do with it. What is important is to not give in to the symptoms. Keep exercising, working on things like walking every day. Also I have heard that one aspirin a day is also helpful, but I have never gotten to that point. I have arthritis in my neck, diagnosed a few years back, and I don’t even notice it.

Q&A: What are some good natural remedies to help stop the progression of arthritis?

Jun 4, 2012   //   by   //   Blog  //  2 Comments

Question by Joyce: What are some good natural remedies to help stop the progression of arthritis?
I’m not sure what kind of arthritis I have. I always assumed that it was osteoarthritis because I don’t have any disfigured joints. However, after reading more about rheumatoid arthritis, I wonder if I have that. My joints all over are stiff and achy and my fingers are puffy. I heard that fish oil is good. How much of this can I safely take? What about other supplements? Thanks!

Answer by rdnek1001
Drink plenty of water. This helps to keep your muscles and joints hydrated. I would drink about 16 ounces 4 – 5 times a day. Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Calcium, Garlic oil and yes fish oil. As far as how much you can take, the vitamins C, Garlic and fish oil that your system does not use just gets flushed from your system. As far as the vitamin D and the calcium, do what the label says and start taking a good multi-vitamin everyday.

I have very bad arthritis pain and my doctor just told me to take advil. It’s not doing much for my pain. Anything else better out there? Thanks.

Taking otc painkillers, especially in large doses is worse for your body than doctors tell you. Some people say a radical diet will reverse the symptons. I use a glucosamine-chondroitin product called Move Free. Look at a grocery store or drug store.
